European Perch is a freshwater predatory fish that comes from the perch-like fish species (Percidae) and its origins are in Europe and northern Asia.
Appearance:
- It has an elongated body, pressed down on the sides with two dorsal fins.
- The coloration is from greenish to yellowish-brown at the back. The sides are silver with dark transverse stripes and the belly is white.
- Its fins are a striking red color.
- European Perch has got noticeable spikes located at the dorsal and pelvic fin.
- The average length is around 20 cm, but it grows up to 40 cm (in rare cases up to 60 cm).
Lifestyle:
- European Perch attacks smaller or sick fish in shoals.
- This fish lives in rivers, brooks, lakes or ponds with clear water and rich vegetation.
- It prefers the shallows with sunken trunks.
